Quadlogic provides our customers with reliable automatic meter reading systems using Power Line Communications (PLC) technology. PLC is a method of transferring metered data over the existing power lines that provide electricity to each customer. At Quadlogic, the PLC technology is integrated into our meters and data collector (Scan Transponder) to bring you a reliable, robust, through-transformer metering solution.



Patented PLC
Quadlogic’s patented method of PLC moves large amounts of accurate metered data for commercial and residential customers to a central collection point. The PLC signal dynamically responds to the varying electrical noise conditions normally found on power lines and electrical distribution grids by changing frequency and phase until the best combination of variables is identified for successful communication. It is this frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum communication method that enables Quadlogic to maintain highly reliable data throughput.
 

Through-Transformer Technology
The Quadlogic signal gives you the advantage of reliable transmission through any existing transformer with any meter fed from that particular distribution feeder. This eliminates the expense of any additional materials or labor utilized to bypass transformers.

True Two-Way System
The Scan Transponder (“Transponder”) is the central data collector for the system and is capable of communicating to and from hundreds of metering points.

Reliable Data
Quadlogic’s Transponder works in a systematic and methodical way. When the Transponder requests data each meter replies with data packets containing the stored meter readings, interval readings and event logs. The communication is either successful or unsuccessful; there are no instances of partial or incomplete data communication. This ensures the integrity and reliability of the data. If the first attempt at communication is unsuccessful, the Transponder and meter will automatically adjust communication variables to achieve successful signal transfer.

Non-Volatile Flash Memory
Data is securely stored in the non-volatile flash memory of the meter and of the Transponder. The QLC System collects full interval, register and events data from the meters on the system and can collect data seamlessly from any QLC meter model.

Redundant Data Storage
With Quadlogic, the metered data is stored in three places: the meter, the Scan Transponder AND in the database (once retrieved). This redundancy gives our customers the confidence to rely on our systems.
